Winchester Wellness is your dynamic health management team based at the Westgate Badminton Centre, Winchester.
Established in 2016 founders Kris Smith and Lucy Bransgrove have a shared vision to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient care by combining physiotherapy, osteopathy, Pilates, acupuncture and sports massage delivered in a bright and welcoming clinic in Winchester.
Clinic Principal and Osteopath
Kris is our resident Osteopath who has a specialist interest in back pain having published his research into the topic in 2020.
Kris is a rugby enthusiast who previously represented his home country of Scotland in age group matches before playing for Exeter University while gaining a BSc in Studying Sports and Exercise Sciences. Following this Kris has worked in medical sales and marketing gaining a substantial insight to orthopaedics alongside continuing his amateur rugby playing for various clubs around the South and South West before settling to raise a family in Winchester.
A repeated serious shoulder injury unfortunately forced his retirement but also sparked his interest in sports injury, recovery and rehabilitation. Kris went on to gain qualifications in Soft Tissue Therapy, Acupuncture and Osteopathy to continue his involvement with sport and also provide an opportunity to support various charitable sporting events.
Kris enjoys a busy family life, and is most happy when enjoying the south coast beaches with his wife Bunny, 3 children Kitson, Raffie and Huxley and 2 black labradors Lake and Archie.
Clinic Principal and Physiotherapist
Lucy is an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist with a Masters of Science in osteopathy.
Lucy graduated with her Physiotherapy degree from Oxford Brookes University in 2011 and went on to work in private practice, sport and high performance settings. Over the years, Lucy has remained keen to continually expand her knowledge base, undertaking further qualifications including; rehabilitation Pilates, acupuncture and, most recently, a Masters in Osteopathy.
Having travelled around the country, and the world, as a member of medical teams for London 2012 Olympics, West End shows, the filming of an award-winning movie, sports teams and charity walks and races, Lucy is really enjoying time back in Hampshire surrounded by family!
Lucy swears by the rehabilitation Pilates she teaches and feels she has managed her scoliosis (curve and rotation in her spine), pregnancy and post-natal recovery with it.
Lucy believes in a holistic approach to healthcare having only seen improvement in her own health from multiple experts who are open-minded and look at the body as a whole.
Mandy’s first love in life is dance and lived out her dream to become a professional dancer for a ten year period through her late teens and twenties having trained in ballet, tap and jazz working in theatre and television.
Since becoming a Mum, she retired from dancing and became a qualified Exercise to Music Instructor and has added a wealth of fitness disciplines to this over the last few decades. These include Body Step, Swiss Ball, Pilates Chi Yoga, Zumba, Fitness Pilates and Freestyle Fitness Yoga and more.
Mandy has a passion to help people keep well and fit in whatever way she is able, her Pilates classes here at Winchester Wellness incorporate a bit of Tai Chi and Yoga and are suitable for all levels.
Health Coach and Pilates Instructor
Sarah is a health coach with a wealth of knowledge and experience in holistic health care. She has worked in the health and wellness industry for nearly 25 years. Starting out as a personal trainer, she soon realised that to help her clients achieve optimal wellbeing, emotional and mental health needed to be addressed too.
Sarah was also diagnosed with coeliac disease over 10 years ago and is passionate about helping newly diagnosed coeliacs navigate a new way of eating and living.
Sarah is a trained massage therapist (sports and holistic), practitioner of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Neuro Linguistic Programming and Reiki and a qualified and experienced Pilates instructor.
Whether you’re in need of help with aches and pains, would like to feel more relaxed, help navigate a healthier way of eating or understand the blockages and emotions surrounding certain pain points in your life, Sarah is ready and willing to help. To compliment her wide range of qualifications listed above, she can offer mindfulness sessions, food intolerance testing and meal planning as well.
