2nd trimester
I am so thankful to say that the second trimester was definitely much better than the first for me but unfortunately not every woman can say that. My heart goes out to all those women who suffer with pregnancy-related conditions and encourage you to keep returning to your GP/midwife/health professional for help with symptom management.
My healthcare professional
Personally, I don’t know what I would have done without Emma Lane. Emma is a naturopath, functional medicine practitioner and nutritionist. She has been helping me with gut, adrenal and hormone issues for a couple of years. Having suffered all sorts of physical and emotional symptoms for over 10 years prior to finally being diagnosed with coeliac disease, I believe a lot of damage was done whilst the doctors were ignoring all these signs. Even following a completely gluten-free diet and advice to maintain calcium and vitamin D levels, I was still experiencing symptoms. Although this route is not cheap and I feel very fortunate to be able to pay for Emma’s expertise, I knew I had to do something to feel better.
Emma was able to carry out a range of assessments to get to the root of what was going on in my body. Once she had the information she required from these tests, Emma prioritised what needed treatment first. Dietary and lifestyle changes have been made, alongside various protocols for each imbalance addressed. These protocols have included specific supplementation, elimination and re-introduction of certain foods and constant monitoring of symptoms. Every single decision made takes my situation at that time into consideration. Thus, there is no reason to state which supplements I use or what diet/lifestyle changes have been made. However, one thing I can say is I have learnt so much from Emma! I feel happier, healthier, in total awe of my body growing a mini human and able to maintain balance through small tweaks in diet, lifestyle and energy management. A real treat!
It was week 17 I started feeling better. We took a very well timed trip to Champney’s for a bit of R&R. It was an absolute dream after being so poorly. Breathing fresh air walking around the grounds, the beauty of the lake and the shimmer of autumn sun, swimming in the pool and enjoying time with my partner without moaning about nausea or running off to be sick. To top it all off, he bought me a pregnancy massage. Having felt all crumpled up from so much sitting/lying down over 3 months, this felt amazing! The closest Champney’s to Winchester is Forest Mere in the beautiful South Downs – here is the link: https://www.champneys.com/spa-resorts/champneys-forest-mere/ Thank me later!!
